LOL Yeah, I wonder where they did get their terms. How many people thought that a "Steak" centre had something to do with food the first time they heard it?

Hi! My name is Mark and I'm 49 living in Colorado Springs. I joined the cult to play basketball in 1974. I saw through the garbage nearly from the start. Now don't get me wrong, I met and hung out with some really great people. I stayed until 1991. I stopped going to their services in the mid 80's. My first marriage brought us 5 wonderful boys. Our son Blaine was 17 when, in 2001, he was murdered at work. A month before we had gone to the stake center to watch mom sing in the choir. She was very happy we were there. I've never told her this and never will but...on the way out of the building Blaine whispered to me :Hey dad, let's get out of here, this place is full of zombies!" Shortly after his death we divorced. I want nothing but the best for her...she moved back to Utah and lives with her grade school sweetheart...Much more if anyone is interested. I'm happy to be here!

Hi, josephlied. Welcome to ex-Mo forums. :D

My gosh, how do you get through something like that? I'm so sorry you went through such a horrible loss.

I'm glad you're happy to be here. I hope we can provide a sense of community for you, where we all understand one another, having all escaped from the place full of zombies.

I am a 26 year old woman.
5'3, 115 pounds, brown hair, brown eyes
I was born into the church and started doubting in primary
Left the church when I was 18
I have been married once before and had a baby boy
Son was given up for adoption when he was a year old due to my mental health issues
My mom gave him to a mormon family behind my back
I am in my second marriage now for three years and it is heading for a divorce
I love to read, scrapbook, write, drink screwdrivers, tattoos
I wish there was a way to get back at the church for all the bullshit they gave me
Even had thoughts of a church shooting... (although I never would) lol

Hey, Onion Princess,
since you like convention-going, you might like the one that will be coming up in October. It is the annual "exmormon foundation conference." They haven't put out information on it yet, but when they do, you'll find pertinent links here.

:)

You're so funny here, being an Engineer and all. Could have never guessed by the proto, but I really glad you included that one detail.

Welcome, welcome, well-come to the rest of us on the boards! Glad to have made your acquaintance.

Born, raised and lived all my life in UT. Mid 30's. Parents and entire family of 7 siblings all LDS. Only child not to serve a mission. Father died when I was young and I soon learned how you are treated in this world when you go from fairly well off to poor. Inactive since 15 or so. Former smoker, social drinker. Work in medical sales. Married to someone who grew up in and doubted the church as well. We have two young kids. Both of us asked to take name off rolls earlier this year. Live in the suburbs (heart is in the city) where the gossips flows more easily than state street after the 1983 flood. Far left liberal and sometimes socialist who believes in "one planet indivisible, with safe air, water and soil, economic justice, equal rights and peace for all. (author unknown)"

All you have to do to get Dipsnort or Utah to perk up on this forum is to post any word that can have some sexual innuendo. I don't even have to type out the full word Boobs anymore. i can just write any word with the double oo sound and they see boobs. I can type, "Look, I took a book into a nook" and they see, "Boob, I boob a boob into a boob". So writing "adult content" into a post will get you accolades right off the bat. You should do well here. Our ratio of men to women on Exmormonforums is about 3-1 as are most discussion forums but our men are very special and highly sensitive to sex words. I had to devote a special thread just to SEX to keep them coming back to the forum like specially trained rats just running through the maze to ding the bell and get their little kibble treats. It's fairly charming really.

We also discuss interesting and heavily intellectual stuff, but it's the SEX thread that has had the most views and responses. Sex sells and sex is universally appealing, so seems to be the common glue that binds all of us together. That sounds pretty disgusting now that I think about it.

Oh, and welcome to the forum all you new folks. I might get your name and personality and gender wrong, but I hope I don't get the welcome wrong. I'm glad we have such diversity and variety here.

That's not entirely true. I also see the word nookie in there.

Ok, lets see if this one works. The sly fox quickly jumped over the lazy dog. You boys never disappoint me. I love the consistancy of your nature. When all the world is changing so quickly and hard to keep up with, knowing what drives and motivates ya'll is the one thing I can continually count on, day in and day out.
