Yeah I found this on Google and poked around the site to see if there was anything about this year's conference. They used to post stuff all the time but I haven't seen anything in ages. Sirnya and I were talking about it on another thread and I wanted to pop it up to get attention. I knew you'd come through! :)

After our conversation I ended up hopping on to that same website and from there was listening to this last conference's panels that were recorded. I wish I'd been there. After listening to the two writers I wanna find and read the latter day cypher and destroying angel. They sound really intriguing. I love a good murder mystery with ties to the occult.
Out of curiosity, since we are on the subject of the conference, how much is admission?

They'll post registration information and costs when they get things set up. It's good to get a room in the same hotel as the conference, but there are others nearby that are less expensive. The hotel has a restaurant; there's a Burger King a block or two away, and lots of restaurants downtown. The dinner is fun to go to; you meet a few more people (unless you sit with a group you already know), and they might have prizes!

I'm very new to all of this. My husband and I are just starting the process of leaving the church and we are looking for support from people who have done it. Can any of you tell me what kind of support groups are out there?

You both are in very good and fine shape. Simply by stopping to ever listen to the stupid, stupid Mormons in your new life from now on.

I was recently doing the math, in order to drive to Utah and back, the cost of gas round trip will cost me nearly $500 I don't have that much money available to be blown away like that. I can't afford it >.>
is there anyone in So Cal I could carpool with to split the gas cost?

Hi angieb. I just wanted to say, "Welcome." :D

There are definitely great support groups out there. Especially if you're in Utah, or Alberta. There doesn't seem to be anything for me in the Toronto, Canada area, but this forum is my support group. :)

I'll be there this year, if I can do it without losing my degree at the finish line...

Welcome, AngieB! I hope you're able to get some useful information here that will help you.

Be sure and look at the Announcements sticky in the Resignation / Name Removal forum folder. You'll find the addresses you need, and samples or links to samples of letters of resignation. That's a good place to post, also, if you run into barriers to having your name removed, and would like suggestions how to get through them......

I'm hoping I can afford it. My heath has been in the crapper this year and I'm afraid I'm going to have to have surgery this summer. I have set up a savings account though...hopefully my monies there won't have to go toward medical deductibles, etc. I still have hope! :)

It's October 15th to 17th. I'm working on getting there this year. I have a friend in Salt Lake who is insisting that I stay at her place. I don't know how close she is to the hotel, but she lives just up behind the Capitol buildings.

This will be a great way to spend my birthday! Wonder if anyone from Nor Cal wants to carpool?

BABB and I would love to arrange a big party for all of us that can make it. We found very cheap hotel prices near the airport and they have a big kitchen and living room area that we could have our own gathering sometime during the conference. Going out to eat would be fun but it might be hard to fit all of us at a table so maybe we could plan to bring a bunch of food and munchies to our hotel and have a gathering in the main area there. I'm anticipating being there early on friday and not leaving till Monday morning after the conference so we can be flexible in the gathering times. I very much look forward to seeing as many of you as possible. I'll wrangle Infymus into meeting us this time too. We are a family and it will be wonderful to meet many of you whom I've never seen before. I promise to not feed you funeral potatos or green jello unless it is spiked with something to make it worthwhile.

We'll be booking our hotel some time in August so if anyone wants to get on a deal let us know. My DILs sister works for the Marriot chain and gets us a friends and family rate for about $35-50.00 a night for a room with two double beds.

I have a friend who lives in Salt Lake City, who's actually a never-Mo, and who is insisting that I stay with her. She lives right up behind the Capitol building. She said she'd taxi me around.
