(CNN) – Richard Mourdock, running for U.S. Senate in Indiana, said at a debate Tuesday that pregnancies resulting from rape are intended by God.

Another one who speaks for god....and rape being a part of god's intentions? That's crazy thinking in my book. Must have found some small phrase or section in a Bible somewhere to support that pre election comment.

This topic/item came up in the debate, no doubt, when it came to who gets to pay for abortions.

Individuals and politicos from the collectivist side of the political spectrum want someone else to pay for the abortion. If that someone else the government or an insurance company, they really don't care.

Always a hot talking point is the infamous Roe v. Wade Supreme Court Decision and the fact that it is "The Law of the Land." This is a common mistake because courses like Civics is not taught in public schools. The Supreme Court simply rules on the Constitutionality of a point of law/legislation or some other type of case when it has been brought through a writ of certiorari or a writ of errors. The Roe case simply overturned the law that existed in Texas at the time. Oddly enough, Texas had restrictions on abortions which included parental permission or spouse notification, 72 hour waiting periods and many of the other restrictions the 'pro-life' camps want to institute and are met 'tooth and claw' by the rabid pro-abortion camps.

Despite the statements of people like the "NOW" (National Organization of Women) people, abortions were NOT....NOT....NEVER illegal within the United States. Each state had their own little requirements on performing abortions. It was widely rumored, around the area where I lived, Dr. Koch (pronounced Coke), everyone's baby doctor, also performed abortions and he was biggest abortion doctor as well.

In my opinion, all this arguing about birth control, women's access to health care, cancer screenings, pap smears, mammograms is not someone's ability to obtain these services. It always boils down to who gets to pay. I would love someone to pay for my food, clothing, housing, transportation and my utilities. Don't we all. Then the nightmare is over we fall out of bed and wake up. Socialism did not work. People stood in line for hours to get free milk (a quart) in 20 below zero weather in Moscow (U.S.S.R, not Idaho) because it was 'free.' Then after obtaining the milk, they would go to another line for a few more hours to get free bread. Right across the street there was a market that sold the same items. I guess it is what you want to do with your time.

So if I rape a woman and she gets pregnant, am I fulfilling God's will?

Where do they get these Taliban Christian Tea Party Republicans?

That's precisely why I'm pro-choice markrichards. I'm not against kids per se- I'm against the idea that folks who feel obligated for religious reasons to have kids they don't want decide everyone else must pay & take care of them. Paying for birth control & abortions is much less $ & more cost effective to us taxpayers than paying for foodstamps, healthcare, etc. for the entitled "poor" who don't want to pay for anything for themselves :titter:

These kind of stories make me sick. I mean literally, in my stomach nauseous. I'm a wimp, I admit it.
I pray to God, when I read things like this, that the guy has been misquoted.
Those times I find out there was no misquote, are really hard. It reminds me of Ted Bundy and Phillip Craig Garrido,
and I think we don't do quite enough to let those kinds of guys know how we really feel deep inside.
Put them in prison with incarcerated fathers and they'll get a notion of how people feel about what they've done.
