Quote:
But while Romney said last week that “all moms are working moms,” that doesn’t apply to mothers who are welfare recipients, the Boston Globe says. Romney said at a Jan. 4 campaign stop in Manchester, N.H.: “Even if you have a child two years of age, you need to go to work,” Romney describing his position as Massachusetts governor. “And people said, ‘Well that’s heartless,’ and I said ‘No, no, I’m willing to spend more giving daycare to allow those parents to go back to work. It’ll cost the state more providing that daycare, but I want the individuals to have the dignity of work.’” (http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/20 ... oment?lite)

Let’s consider Romney’s words:

“I want the individuals to have the dignity of work.”

And, then apply his words to his own wife! According to Mitt, his wife lacks one thing: “the dignity of work.”

The mothers he described who need to go back to work are women who are stay at home moms, raising their kids with help from Uncle Sam. Is the reason they lack dignity the fact that Uncle Sam is providing funds. No, because Mitt also says, “It’ll cost the state more providing that daycare”

The key issue is they need, “the dignity of work.” And, that “dignity of work” is found outside the home; so, according to Mitt, evidently “dignity” is not something a stay at home mom already has. She needs a job.

Mitt, I am having trouble with your words. In light of what you just said a few days ago — justifying a woman’s dignity raising her kids at home — here I am reading how you are demanding that some women let other people raise their kids n a daycare environment so they can have “the dignity of work.”

You really do sound like a politician! Obviously you have an agenda. What you lack is credibility, and, to obtain that please try holding your own family to the standards you are trying impose on others.

Rich,

You keep talking like that and Romney will _NEVER_ choose you as his VP candidate.

Don't go saying bad things about the First Stay-At-Home Lady.

Hey Productofchoice,

To me it looks like Mitt is trying to kick people off welfare.

Mitt said,

“I want the individuals to have the dignity of work.”

This is an odd thing; because Mitt is the one claiming individuals are without dignity, if they are not working. In other words: in Mitt’s eyes, mothers trying to raise two year old children need to have jobs, to have dignity.

Mitt, have you ever considered that mothers with young children may think they have dignity, right now, without measuring up to your standards. When you said: “I don’t care about the poor people” your saying was supposed to be in the context that you were going to leave poor people alone.

To me it looks like you want to use the need for people to have dignity to justify taking money from the poor.

Hard to collect income taxes from someone who doesn't have an income ...

United Auto Workers President Bob King is no fan of Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. In a conference call with former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland and members of the Obama re-election campaign, King reportedly called Romney “out of touch” with the issues working people face. Considering Mitt Romney’s great personal wealth, King has claimed that the GOP Mitt Romney candidate is out of touch with the financial struggles of The 99 Percent, those who do not possess the capital of members of the United States’ upper class. This has been going on forever. Even though "we" believe in the importance of parents in those early years, if you're on welfare, somehow that doesn't matter. Still, there's good research on the positive long-term effects of quality early education and childcare. Paying for quality child care is one problem. It doesn't come cheap. Improving existing mediocre (or worse) early childhood programs is another problem.

Federal funding has been cut. State funding has been cut.

What's that welfare mom supposed to do if quality childcare isn't available or affordable?

It would be nice if politicians would tell the whole story.

Doesn't the UAW own about 10% of Ford's stock? Or did they get rid of it. Romney "out of touch" with "the financial struggles of the 99 percent"! What a hypocrite. King gets over 150,000 salary alone, plus all the bennys that top union executives get, including a sweet office. And is he going to pretend that somehow he is in touch with people in his union busting their knuckles on the floor making $14+ an hour. I don't trust over-paid, over-perked union "executives" any more than I trust any other kind. It's like the pigs and farmers at the end of Animal Farm. Indistinguishable.
